Yellowstone

My Sister and her friend Laura came in from their Europe vacation to Seattle to go on a road trip to Wyoming. Check out their blog at worldtrippin2010.blogspot.com
My camera was MIA most of the time and I can not even attempt to write like Laura does:)

Baby Bedding For Lisa and Nathan

I am designing and making baby bedding for some good friends Nathan and Lisa. They are having a little boy in about 2 months.

They Love luxurious fabrics, mainly silks in all different textures. And the muse is Barron Trump. Pretty good muse right!

This was the first bedding they liked with the quilting.
We also loved this bedding set, but it fits more with the Trumps budget.

I did a rough sketch of an idea, but it has changed a bit since putting the fabrics together.

So, 5 fabric stores, 2 cups of coffee and one Diet Mountain Dew later I have almost everything I need for the bedding.

One thing I was super excited about was I found a pigskin that matched perfectly. Nathan and Lisa are professional hunting outfitters in Canada so as you can imagine I just had to throw that in.
It might not look like much now, but I think it will be perfect for them.
So stay tuned...

Office Before and After

After about 100 garage sales and endless hours searching online for the perfect bookshelf. I did what any person would do... I bought a new one. But of course my search it not complete without finding the best deal. So I went to Ikea and found the one I wanted. At the end of my hour maze through Ikea I found myself in the AS-IS section. There it was the same one I was going to buy 40% off. The only hard part was I had to take it apart myself to get it home and then reassemble it again. So they handed me one little tool and I gave everyone a show taking apart the biggest bookshelf ever at the exit of Ikea on a Saturday afternoon no less.

Check it out below and you will see what I'm talking about.

Chalkboard Spray Paint

I found this really cool frame at Goodwill today (Try to look past the painting). It was one of those times when I had to have it. I thought it could make a really good frame for the chalkboard paint.

I bought this spray paint at Walmart and it cost 3 something a can.

I just flipped the picture over and gave it 2 really good coats and Voila a chalkboard!

The Mystery Chair reveal

Remember my Mystery Chair reupholster below? We know what it is and we have a winner, or two. My Aunt and Mom. Not sure who for sure discovered it online first. The verdict is still out.

Are you ready for this $5 find...It is an Anglo Indian plantation or planter chair, with foot rests. Who
knew this is how the recliner started. It dates back to the Early to Mid 20th C.

These chairs apparently go for $1500 and up. So the bid is on if anyone would like to buy my chair! Here are some pictures they found online. Remember mine started out with the caning, so it truly was an authentic piece.

Master Bath Mural

This is my work in progress that I started today in our master bathroom. I saw on another blog this lady who hired someone to paint a cherry tree mural going up her stairs. I never thought I liked murals in the house until now:)
If you are a little nervous about free handing a mural, you can always rent a projector and trace it out on the wall. I just went for it and so far I am really happy with it! It is really hard to tell but I used a colored pencil to draw out the cherry branch.

I'll post more pictures as it comes along!
